New Chicks!

We have new baby chicks! We ordered them, and they came in a this box. It amazes me that they are healthy after being mailed! We are hoping they are all female..they assure us that at least 95 percent are. I found out the hard way that we cannot encourage friendship between Roosters, we had to rehome two of our last bunch because they were male. They are all in a "brooder" in our garage. Every time I open it they are bigger!

February 1st, 2011 Blizzard

February 2,2011-yesterday we received the blizzard of the decade...it is debatable, because of the high winds, butit looks like we received 10-12 inches of snow. Everything has been shut down for the past two days. Hubby had to work, he went trudging up the driveway last night at 11:30 PM to go to work in the blowing snow. I-70 was closed from Kansas City to St. Louis all night long. This system stretches from TX to the North East US. What a mess. It was, however...beautiful. I have over 15 inches of snow on my bird bath. Our Chickens and Peafowl are hold up in their building with heat lamps. It is supposed to be extremely cold tonight, in the minus readings. My little dachshund, Chloe, can't hardly go to the bathroom outside, because her belly rubs on the snow. My Parrots are all safe and warm, just ask them!

The top picture is the beginning of the storm, early morning, 2/1/11. I had filled my Bird Feeders the night before in anticipation of the storm,and in looking out I see a "furry" ?bird? on my feeder. He must have flew to it! The bottom is the morning after., 2/2.

2010 Spring Birds and frogs

Today, May 22, 2010, is a beautiful spring day! No Rain! It has rained constantly for over a week. We have had water in our family room, and had to take the carpet out., so a project is facing us, just to find the $, then to do the project!

I have had some different spring birds this year. I have never had Grosbeaks at my feeders. I usually feed Grape Jelly and BOSS (black oil sunflower seed) to my outside birds, and the Orioles love the Orange halves and Grape Jelly. This spring I have had numerous male and female Grosbeaks at my Orange halves! The Orioles have been quite busy, both male and female and I have had a Blue Bird frequent the feeder too! I have also seen a Red Headed Woodpecker quite often this spring, I hadn't had those for years. I have lots of Downey and Red bellied but the Red Headed had been illusive the last few years.

Our resident frogs are back at the little garden pond., we have stripey and bull frogs. I caught one of them laying on top of one of my frog pond decorations.

This song just simply says it all! The reference to "retards" instantly bothers people, and it did me too., however, it is taken from Obamas' statement about how he bowls., it is not a statement from the song writers. Great song! Sadly, is is just too true!

I sorrow today for our Country that has sold it's soul.

Today is a truely sad day in America. This is not my Country any longer, it belongs to Washington and the Socialist agenda that is taking over our once great Country. I remember a time when, for me, politics was just that...people saw things differently in a constructive "everyone is American" way. Now, it is a fight for the Country our Founders made, chunk by chunk it is being destroyed by Washington and the powers that be., AGAINST the will of the people.

I sorrow for the babies that will continue to die because of the Pro-CHOICE (choice for killing?) agenda. I sorrow for the millions of Americans that will have those deaths on their souls because of the tax money that will fund their deaths. Lord, forgive us..

I also sorrow for the knowledge that, regardless of the obvious WILL OF THE PEOPLE Washington pushed on for the Health Care Bill "in our best interest". I resent that!! I answer only to my Lord, and he has my best interest at heart, I have only to pick up my Bible and see the answers., NOT to Washington!

Like minded people tell me "November we will start the take back of our Country", I know this is true., but worry about the "take back" of yesterday's vote for this horrific Health Care Bill that will change our country. I worry about the fact that "Washington" is so concerned about this bill they don't consider the financial concequences of it on a nation this is in debt so deeply.

I fear from my Children and Grandchildren and Pray for the America we once had.

Cody's 15th Birthday at Stix

We celebrated our Grandson's 15th Birthday at an oriental restaurant on January 2. A great time was had by all! Our cook tossed food in our mouths (well...at least tried), set the grill on blaze, showed his knife skills (very impressive) and made an onion ring volcano complete with fire and smoke. Happy 15th Birthday Cody!!!
